Pieter Baart
Optimising formability and tribological performance in the press shop


Dr. Ir. Pieter Baart has studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Delft, the Netherlands and obtained his PhD degree at the Technical University of Luleå in northern Sweden. In his professional career Pieter worked on many tribological challenges varying from rolling element bearings, seals, steel mill rolling processes, steel surface optimisation and deep-drawing in sheet metal forming. 

Pieter is principal scientist in the field of Tribology at Tata Steel and works together with customers, suppliers and universities on system solutions to enhance technical performance and sustainability of sheet metal products and its applications.

Matthijs Toose
The impact of modern paint systems on steel substrate requirements

 

Dr. Ir. Matthijs Toose has studied applied physics and obtained his PhD degree in the field of numerical mathematics at the Technical University in Twente, the Netherlands. In his professional career Matthijs worked for over 27 years on all aspects of steel making varying from casting, steel mill rolling processes, hot dip galvanising, steel surface optimisation and automotive paint processes. 

Matthijs is scientific fellow in the field of Surface Technology at Tata Steel and as project leader is responsible for all developments of outer panel sheet metal products and its applications.

Hans Brouwer
Cost, sustainability, and surface quality drivers shaping future outer panel materials

Ir. Hans Brouwer studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. He has over twenty years of experience in steel development and applications, with expertise ranging from simulation of sheet metal forming to hands-on support of automotive press shop operations.

Hans is Marketing Manager Automotive at Tata Steel Nederland and is responsible for the Body-in-White steel product portfolio. In this role, he manages all aspects of the portfolio, from strategic decision-making to the implementation of new products in automotive applications. Hans also represents Tata Steel Nederland within WorldAutoSteel, contributing to global collaboration on automotive steel solutions.
