How does it work?
Zeremis® Carbon Lite is an insetting mass-balanced solution that offers carbon credits generated through carbon reduction projects undertaken by Tata Steel Nederland. The achieved CO2e savings are measured, independently verified, allocated transparently through amass balance& approach, and generated within the route that produces your steel.
This means you can confidently report the benefits, integrate them into your sustainability strategy and support your claims with robust data. At the same time, Carbon Lite removes complexity. There’s no need for additional audits, supply chain changes or technical checks on your side.
Independently assured by DNV
Independent verifier DNV validates our CO2 calculations data, checks our carbon bank administration, and confirms our claims in accordance with the GHG protocol and ISO standards, the leading standards on carbon accounting. Providing confidence that every CO2 reduction is real, measurable and transparently allocated.
Our Zeremis mass-balanced solutions deliver only real, measured CO2e savings that are made within the value chain of your purchased product. Our LCA process ensures there is no double counting between the numbers declared in our product EP(D)s and the CO2e tonnes offered through Zeremis®.
Reporting or forwarding CO2 reductions
With Carbon Lite declarations, you can claim Scope 3 emission reductions in sustainability and other published reports.
Alternatively, you may choose to resell your declarations by forwarding them to your clients. You can support them reducing their footprint providing them with the CO2 reduction they need.

Declarations can be used to demonstrate a reduction in scope 3 emissions and to support company reporting of scope 3 emissions in sustainability reports.
Do Carbon Lite products have a higher steel recycling rate than standard steel products?
No, not at the moment. However, options to increase the steel recycling rate are being developed.
