One of Tata Steel Naantali's long-standing customers is Procons Oy, based in Maalahti Finland.

The foundation of Procons was laid back in 1934. Back then, the company developed and manufactured mudguards, luggage racks and rims for the bicycle industry. Today, the company specialises in the roll forming of steel profiles as a subcontractor to industry. Its main customers are the mining industry, the construction industry, the furniture industry and companies specialising in logistics.

Tata Steel Naantali and Procons have been working together for almost 10 years. Klas West, Managing Director of Procons, explains: "We have been a customer of Tata Steel since 2015, when Procons was a company of around €2 million. Today, Procons' turnover has already grown to more than 5 million. Tata Steel has kept up with our growth story and has been able to support us in achieving our goals."

Procons' main material of choice is traditional galvanised steel, but Tata Steel's zinc-magnesium coated MagiZinc is gaining popularity. "We use MagiZinc for applications such as solar power plant racks. The two main reasons for using this material are its ease of handling and its superior corrosion resistance," says Klas, adding "Normally zinc sticks to blades and rollers when handling, but with MagiZinc this does not happen, allowing us to keep production efficiency at a high level." Tata Steel's MagiZinc has previously been praised for its easy formability. Thanks to its corrosion resistance, it extends the life of the finished product, which contributes to reducing both maintenance costs and environmental impact.  

Tata Steel Naantali wants to meet its customers' needs so that they can keep production on schedule and raw materials arrive on time. For customers, this is guaranteed by keeping delivery times in line with contracts:  

"Procons is still striving for continuous growth and every year production volumes are increasing dramatically. We occasionally have large projects, where raw materials are needed quickly and the supplier's promises must be kept. Security of supply is an important factor and Tata Steel has been able to compete here", says Klas.  

As for the long-term cooperation, Klas says: "With Tata Steel, the cooperation is smooth and the reliability of supply is good.
