Tata Steel product: Colorcoat Urban^®

The challenge

The design brief required careful selection of the cladding materials to give Cedar House individuality and be sympathetic to the surroundings.

It was important to the home-owner to build a new home using modern methods of construction with minimal requirement for heating and low annual running costs, and at the same time they wanted the house to ‘make a statement’.

The solution

The owners wanted a home that was different and blended into its surroundings and a pre-finished steel roof certainly helped them achieve that. 

contrasted well with neighbouring buildings, sat suitably with their requirement for rainwater harvesting and the appearance of the metal surface appealed to them as well as the ease of fixing photovoltaic panels.

In fact the owners are so happy with their roof and the choices they made that they  wouldn’t change anything about their home, perhaps due in part down to the meticulous research and forethought that they gave to the build through all the research and planning that they did.

Suppliers were key in creating a home for the owners to be proud of and when we spoke to them they would most certainly recommend Colorcoat Urban^® roof system, with great emphasis on the competence level of the installers - Associated Roofing & Maintenance Ltd and the care to detail by the site visit and quality control of Tata Steel in monitoring the contractor which was impressive.
