When it came to providing the colourful finishing touch to a new multi-million secondary school in Tyne and Wear, Colorcoat® went straight to the top of the class with its ability to meet the many demands of modern educational buildings.
The challenge
The steel wall cladding for Jarrow School, a designated Specialist School of Engineering, had to fulfil a long list of criteria. Not only did it have to be in the school colours of vivid blue and yellow, it had to be sustainable, durable and, crucially, installed with as little disruption to daily student life as possible.
The solution
The Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® range of pre-finished steel certainly passed the test, providing the ideal answer for project architects Ryder Architects, which was tasked with creating a modern, state-of-the-art school with a striking design.
There’s no doubt the end result has top marks. A stadium-like space is the hub of the school’s design, with five individual teaching wings extending from the central space, providing multi-purpose blocks which can be secured individually enabling the school to hire out the rooms for the benefit of the local community.
